Exciting New Developments in the Nirvana Garden
20 December 2024Our new water stations
20 December 2024For freestyle skier Ash Clayton, competing at the highest level of their sport has been a journey of passion and persistence. From FIS competitions to Europa and World Cups, Ash has pushed their limits, earning their place among the best. But a devastating injury last season—breaking their arm in six places—put their career on hold, challenging their resilience and introducing them to a new chapter: recovery.
Central to Ash’s healing process has been Nirvana Health’s Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool, a mineral-rich oasis designed to support both physical and mental recovery.
Why the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool?
Our Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool provides unrivalled opportunities for rehabilitation, including guided and self-directed exercise. The depth of the pool and the high buoyancy provides a safe environment to exercise post injury.
For Ash, the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool provided a space to move, heal, and regain strength after their accident.
Gentle recovery, big impact
Guided by Nirvana Health’s Manager, Ginny, Ash began with gentle exercises in the pool, designed to ease their arm back into movement without overloading it. The buoyancy of the water allowed them to build strength with minimal strain, making it an ideal environment for their early rehabilitation.
Before Ash could return to the gym, the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool offered light resistance to rebuild their muscles gradually. Beyond the physical benefits, the soothing environment helped calm their mind, especially when dealing with flashbacks from the trauma of their accident.
“It even helped me sleep better during those tough early nights,” Ash shared.
Recovery beyond the physical
Ash’s recovery journey wasn’t just about regaining physical strength. The emotional toll of their injury required just as much attention. Time spent in the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool and other spa facilities, such as the Tepidarium and Balneotherapy Pool, gave them moments to reflect, process their experiences, and find peace.
“The flashbacks were one of the hardest parts of my recovery, but giving myself space to disconnect and heal mentally was just as important as the physical work,” they explained.
Looking ahead: back to the slopes
Now on the path to recovery, Ash is optimistic about returning to skiing soon. They’re aiming to ease back into competition by 2025, with their sights set on the Winter Olympics in Italy in 2026.
Through it all, the facilities at Nirvana Health—especially the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool—have been an essential part of their journey.
