20 November 2021Long COVID can cause symptoms that last weeks or months after the initial COVID infection has gone. Common symptoms include: fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain. These symptoms can have a huge impact on a persons life, and their ability to work and carry out actives they previously enjoyed. Some people with Long COVID are referred to a specialist rehabilitation service, such as our partner BLIS for rehabilitation treatments.
As part of their work with BLIS, our Nirvana Fitness coaches have developed a gentle breathing and movement guide, to assist those suffering with long COVID to breathe easier and calm their nervous system.

“ I am a female who has just turned 40. In March 2020 I caught COVID and was admitted to hospital for 9 days. Since then my life has changed completely due to long COVID. I suffer with fatigue, headaches, breathlessness and digestive problems to name a few of my main symptoms. I have been referred to my local long COVID clinic but am still awaiting an appointment to see the specialists. So, I have been looking in to alternative options for treatment/help. I came across the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool at Nirvana Spa and could see they were looking to provide sessions for those accessing the Berkshire long COVID clinic so booked some sessions to give it a try. I have now had 5 sessions in the pool and staff have been fantastic. Initially I had no idea what to expect or what any benefits could be. In the first session I was amazed, in that short amount of time, the short simple exercises in the water allowed me to breathe more deeply than I have in I can't remember how long. Initially I went once a week and found the benefits lasted for a few days. I then went two weekends in a row and also once during the week as I was off work and the benefits lasted for nearly a week."
