At Nirvana Spa, we have long supported Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, an inspiring charity that provides essential care and support to local families facing unimaginable challenges. Since 2017, our owner and chairman John Barley, along with our CEO Sean Barley, have been steadfast patrons of the charity.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Fiona Devine, Founder of the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, has been awarded the honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours list. This prestigious recognition celebrates Fiona’s unwavering commitment to Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service and her tireless efforts in transforming the lives of countless families.
Fiona shared her heartfelt sentiments upon receiving the MBE: “I am delighted to receive an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list. Whilst I feel an immense sense of personal pride in this recognition, our journey to deliver Berkshire’s first children’s hospice service has been the result of many remarkable individuals putting their time, energy, and dedication into our cause. It has been a privilege to lead this journey and to support so many incredible children and their families along the way.”
She also expressed her gratitude to those who played a crucial role in her nomination: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took part in the nomination process on my behalf, with a special mention to Debbie Tonkinson and Sally Sharp for coordinating and applying for the award. Also, my amazing children Caitlin, Harry, and my family. Ultimately, this honour is for Alexander. He epitomised all that was good in this world, he is loved and missed beyond measure.”
Fiona Devine’s MBE is not just a personal accolade, but a symbol of the collective effort and spirit of everyone involved with Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. Her leadership and vision have been instrumental in establishing a sanctuary of care, hope, and love for families in Berkshire.
Congratulations, Fiona, on this well-deserved honour. Your work continues to inspire us all, and we are privileged to support such a worthy cause. Here’s to many more years of making a difference, together.
