Simple and Healthy Summer Dips Recipe
16 April 2017Coming out of her shell
Similar to hot stone massage, the much improved, hot Lava Shell Massage, is attracting a lot of attention. Treatment Manager Nicole explains that “the Lava Shells are made from actual shells, designed to provide continual heat. They are specially sculpted with curved edges and planes so that they can reach more deeply into tight muscles using the self-heating action of the shells themselves.”
We thought it might be interesting to find out what a novice thinks of our brand new treatment. We asked a long term Nirvana member, who’s never been in the Crystal Treatment Suite, to try it out and share her experience.
I’m not a natural when it comes to massage treatments. I didn’t really know what to expect when I found myself in the lovely Crystal Treatment Suite to check in for my Lava Shell full body massage. The massage bed was so warm and the room so beautiful that I could have settled down for an afternoon nap right there!
Laura, my therapist, applied warm coconut oil, which felt incredibly luxurious. She then began with the hot shells, using long sweeping strokes. The heat coming from the gliding shells was actually quite noticeable – not just lukewarm, and felt very soothing. Whenever Laura found a knotty area she worked with the heat of the shell to smooth it away. The fluid, almost hypnotic strokes, had me floating on my own little cloud and I felt myself melting away.
There is no feeling like this in the world and I didn’t want it to end. I was profoundly relaxed when my hour ended. The shells had travelled my entire body and just before the end, a soft scalp massage just about finished me off for the day!
I slept incredibly well that night, which has been unusual lately. I’m told that the benefits of this massage are many, from improving circulation to working deeply tight muscles. But for me, the main benefit was a deep sense of emotional and physical wellbeing, which left me practically floating.”
