How to keep your mojo

13 December 2019Nirvana Spa are delighted to have completed the construction of a new Nurture Room at a local school, Finchampstead Primary. Recently, the school has supported several of its pupils through traumatic times and the head teacher made us aware that there was no private space within the site for these children to receive additional adult support in a calm, quiet environment.
In close consultation with the school, we constructed the conservatory that serves as the new Nurture Room, as well as completing several other much-needed works for the school including a new patio and two new boilers to replace the old one.
Headteacher Mrs Vanstone says that the new room provides a “comforting, bright, positive place to learn, play and be cared for. It is such a beautiful space, we feel incredibly fortunate to have the support of the Barley family, as a school our budget would never allow us to fund such a project”
The Nurture Room is now used as a tranquil, reflective space for 1:1 sessions with the school’s Nurture Assistant, during which pupils can enjoy art activities, reading and puzzles. It is also used for group sessions at playtimes and lunchtimes to support friendships and overall wellbeing. The school recently hosted an event for past pupils in the conservatory; the eldest attendee was 98 years old!
Sean Barley, our CEO, was pleased to be able to project manage the construction himself which also involved clearing and landscaping the area. Sean and the team ensured that they collaborated closely with the school and we were delighted to receive feedback that ‘everyone worked with respect, care and professionalism and staff enjoyed having the Nirvana Spa team at school’.
Only the final finishing touches are now left to complete. These will be taken care of by artists from Artistic who will paint the room before Christmas.
We hope that pupils and staff at Finchampstead Primary are able to reap the benefits of their Nurture Room for many years to come and we look forward to hearing about all the different ways that this special space is used.
